Having started playing the ukulele at the beginning of 2006 I quickly graduated from my $20 Mahalo to a beautiful $250 Royal - my pride and joy. The problem is finding people with which to share skills, have a jam and just enjoy playing.
I had been thinking about starting Gold Coast Ukulele Players for almost a year. The problem has always been a venue. There are some great rooms but all of them want to rent their rooms out for big $$ and since this is a free event it was never going to happen. Despite me suggesting that it would bring customers in they wouldn't budge.
Tree Tops Tavern saw that it is likely to be good for business and are going to let us have the room (subject to other bookings) on the second Monday of the month for free. Added to that they have friendly staff, great food and the all important bar.
This is for anyone and everyone. It doesn't matter if you have never played or are Jake Shimabukuro you are welcome. There will be a range of songs to suit all abilites, people will have the opportnity to share things they have discovered, hopefully we will have people who can perform for us and when possible organise workshops.
So drag that uke out of the cupboard and come along to the Tree Tops Tavern on the second Monday of the month from 7PM
